Car shows are a funny and fickle thing. Sometimes they go off without a hitch and everyone involved has a rockin' good time; other times Murphy's law rears its ugly head and any number of disasters can occur. Very rarely, however, is a show consistently excellent year after year for well over a decade. This rarity seems to be the case with the Goodguys West Coast Nationals, which celebrated its 16th anniversary on August 24-26 in beautiful Pleasanton, California.
Now, don't get us wrong; we attend a lot of shows, and most of them benefit from good people and killer rides, but there is something about Pleasanton that makes it a "must attend" on the annual R&C calendar. It could be the host city's small town charm, the central California coast's fantastic summer weather, or the lush green setting of one of the nicest fairgrounds around. Oh, who are we kidding--it's gotta be the cars! The West Coast Nats have always been a great way for Left Coast builders to showcase their latest creations, and a wild assortment of raucous rods and killer kemps found there way to the bay area for this year's soiree. With a selection of eye candy ranging from bone-stock Model Ts, to insane 9,000-pound handbuilt monster roadsters, there was no shortage of cars to ogle and people to meet, so we're going to stop yammering and let the pictures do the talking. Enjoy.
